“The new health reform law is causing some filing glitches at IRS after all Thousands of refunds are being held up, the IRS Taxpayer Advocate says, because not all of the state exchanges have sent their data to the Revenue Service. Thus, the agency can’t match the data with returns claiming the premium tax credit. So returns from filers in states that have not yet reported have been placed on hold. The service has told its employees not to divulge the reason for the holdup to affected filers who ask about their refunds. But the Taxpayer Advocate has decided that filers should know why their refunds are delayed, so she won’t follow the directive.”
